Support sister Girl Scouts in Texas
When disaster strikes, Girl Scouts take action. We are proud to hear the overwhelming responses coming in from Girl Scouts across the movement, to respond to the immediate needs of the victims of Hurricane Harvey. We have been in touch with our sister councils at Girl Scouts of San Jacinto (Houston area) and Girl Scouts of Greater South Texas. The impact on the families they serve is still not fully known. Please continue to keep them in your daily thoughts.
Monetary Donations to Sister Girl Scouts
We have received questions from our troops asking how girls can help their sister Girl Scouts across the state. If Girl Scout troops would like to make a monetary donation to the girls directly affected by Hurricane Harvey for replacement vests/sashes, books, supplies or other financial assistance, troops can easily do so by filling out the online form. GSSWT will sweep your troop’s bank account and hold the funds separate until such a time as our sister councils are ready to receive and disburse the funds appropriately. Questions? Email email@example.com.
Texas Girl Scout Hurricane Relief Patch
GSSWT has joined Girl Scout councils across Texas to announce the creation of the Texas Girl Scout Hurricane Relief Patch. This is a free patch program which will not only educate girls about disaster preparedness and relief, but ask them to take action. We are committed to supporting our fellow Girl Scout councils across the state now and in the months to come.
Because meeting basic needs are so crucial at this time, we ask that you continue to support the American Red Cross, San Antonio Food Bank and other appropriate organizations with collected items or monetary donations. Items may be dropped off at the San Antonio Food Bank or at any of the 10 City Council district offices.
If you are looking for ways to help the following organizations are accepting donations and volunteer support.
Stay tuned for more information about how to support shelters in San Antonio. Planning with partner organizations is taking place and will be shared as soon as possible.
Please reach out to us and let us know what your troop is doing by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or by tagging your photos online with #GSRespond.
