This year's Trefoil Luncheon will honor Cecilia Abbott, First Lady of Texas.
Cecilia was raised in San Antonio by parents who were both educators instilling in her a love of learning and helping others, lessons she took to heart. She obtained degrees in Psychology, Education and Theology from the University of Texas at Austin and University of St. Thomas in Houston before beginning her career as an educator, principal, then later Managing Director of Community Relations in senior health care. She is also the founder of Texanthropy Initiative, an initiative focused on giving back to communities while promoting volunteerism and service. She recently partnered with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services on a new initiative, Network of Nurture, to raise awareness on how Texans can support the children and families in the state’s child welfare system. Cecilia is also a Girl Scout alumna.
Cecilia's story reminds us of the American Dream of aspiration and achievement. By devoting her life to serving others, she personifies what it means to make the world a better place, and is an inspiration to girls.
