Associations

Girl Scout associations are your link to the council board of directors for influencing the direction of and improving the quality of Girl Scouting! Our council’s 60 service units are grouped into eight associations. All adult volunteers and girls age 14 and older are considered members of an association. Members meet twice a year, generally in October and January, to hear important council news, elect delegates to the annual council meeting in May and help give direction to the work of the council by responding to discussion topics. View list of associations and their service units here!

One way to participate in the democratic process is to present an idea or concern in proposal format for review. Proposals may be generated as:

  • Agenda items for association meetings or
  • Discussion items at the councils annual meeting or
  • Topics for review at the board committee or board task group.

For ideas or concerns about a policy matter, please use the following procedures:

  1. Complete the Policy Influencing Proposal (PIP) form and submit it to the council. The PIP form can be found in the forms section of this Web site.
  2. The completed PIP is copied and given to the Association Vice-President, Board Chair, CEO, and Assistant Executive Director.
  3. Each PIP is reviewed for appropriate follow-up action and the submitting individual(s) will be notified within six weeks.
  4. If the matter is an operational concern, it will be communicated to the CEO for follow-up.

Association Meetings

GSSWT's Board of Directors and Association Chairs invites girls ages 14 and older and adult members to attend association meetings to ensure you have a voice in the influencing policy decisions made by the board of directors. Association meetings are held in October and January and are attended by girls, volunteers, board members, and staff.
