A planned gift is a donor's commitment to benefit Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas through a gift that takes effect at death or after a term of years. When you include GSSWT in your will or other estate plans, you will provide the financial power the organization needs to help future generation of girls receive the best program and the best resources GSSWT can provide to help them become their personal best. Planned gifts to GSSWT include bequests, life insurance, and retirement plan benefits.
Since the information on this site is not intended as legal, tax, or investment advice, it is highly recommended that prospective donors consult with their own tax or legal advisors prior to making a planned gift.
Your gift to Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas can have an even greater impact through a matching-gift program. Support Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas through the 2013 Birdies for Charity program®
In 2013, GSSWT is poised to succeed with its partnership with Birdies for Charity through the annual Valero Texas Open and your help is needed to spread the word! What's a birdie, you ask?! It's a score of one stroke under par (the expected score) for any hole on the golf course.
Birdies for Charity is a fundraising program designed to give participating organizations the opportunity to generate contributions through the Valero Texas Open, scheduled for April 1-7. All donations and pledges are tax deductible and GSSWT will receive 100 percent of the dollars raised through Birdies for Charity!
GSSWT's goal is to be part of the Top 52 participating organizations, which will qualify us for additional funding opportunities. To meet the objective, pledges must be submitted by 12 noon on Tuesday, March 5.
It's easy to participate!
Guess the Birdies Contest
For a little added excitement, you can participate in the Guess the Birdies Contest. If you correctly guess the number of birdies made during the tournament, you could win a brand-new car! Deadline for guesses is 12 noon on Monday, April 1.
Birdies Club Member
You may also want to consider becoming a Birdies Club member. A Birdies Club member is any person or business that pledges 50¢ or more per birdie or a straight donation of $1,000 or more. In recognition of this level of giving, Birdies Club members will be recognized on site on a Birdies Club member sign and will receive four Good Any One Day tickets to the tournament (April 4-7).
To support GSSWT through Birdies for Charity, simply make an online pledge and designate your donation to Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas. You may download a pledge form here and deliver it to the Sally Cheever Girl Scout Leadership Center (811 N. Coker Loop, San Antonio, Texas 78216) or stop by the leadership center and complete a form at your convenience.

In-kind donations are donations that are "paid or given in goods, commodities, or services instead of money." This includes donations of actual items, labor, or gift cards -- it does not include donations made by cash or check. The rule of thumb is if you can put it in your bank account it is not an in-kind donation.
Please be sure to complete an In-kind Donation Form so that your gift can be acknowledged appropriately.
Remember -- because service units and/or troops are not 501(c)(3) entities in accordance with state and federal laws, they cannot request tax-free gifts nor can they issue receipts for tax-free donations. All cash donations of $250 or more or any donations requiring a tax-exempt receipt that are received by troops or service units should be given to the council (via your MDE) for documentation. When applicable, the council will issue a receipt and acknowledgment letter and ensure proper disbursement of the funds back to the troop or service unit.
Birthdays, graduations, holidays ... any day can be a special day when you make a donation in honor or memory of a loved one. Not only will your gift have special meaning to you and your honoree, but your gift will impact the lives of thousands of girls across Southwest Texas.
Gifts can honor friends, family, troop leaders, companies, co-workers -- anyone who is special to you. We will send a personal note to each person, family, or organization that you honor letting them know of your thoughtfulness.
Giving a gift in honor or memory of a loved one is a tribute that can touch thousands.

Imagine a world where every woman was a Girl Scout and every girl who wanted to be, could be a Girl Scout -- a world where people were concerned about their communities and improving the quality of life for themselves and those around them. Girl Scouts care. Our goal is to offer every girl the "Girl Scout Experience!" Girl Scouting can help the girls of today become the women leaders of tomorrow. Whether in business, sports, government, science, education, the arts, parenting, or volunteer work, Girl Scouts have launched successful women in every walk of life. From computers to camping, from sports to self-esteem, mixed with fun and friendships, Girl Scouting has it all!
An investment in Girl Scouts is broader than a cause or a cure.
It's a commitment to a generation.
More than half of America's girls hope to have an effect on the world beyond the communities where they live. That's where you come in. Our donors and volunteers are changing the world by supporting the young women who will change it. As someone who understands that our future depencs on our investment in youth, we are counting on your help.
See what your gift can do:
$50 will provide CPR & First Aid Training Certification for a teen Girl Scout to learn life-saving skills that will last her a lifetime.
$150 will provide a financial literacy program for 15 girls to help them learn how to save for their future.
$200 will provide a camp scholarship for a girl to experience an outdoor adventure she will never forget.
$260 provides a girl one full year of Girl Scouts -- where she can discover who she can be and what she can do, wherever she chooses to put her energies.
Today's Girl Scouts are the children of a new century.
With your help, it will be their century.
What would you give to help change the world?

Together, we can get her there.
