GO Team Structure
Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas uses GO - or Geographical Operation - Teams to provide the highest level of service directly to girls and adult volunteers. These cross-functional teams are organized into five regions, named by color, and are comprised of staff who support specific functions for each region. Each GO Team meets the last week of the month. To contact a member of your GO Team, visit the GSSWT Staff Directory.
Each GO Team includes specialists in the areas of Recruitment, Retention and Program. The specialists work together to ensure their designated service areas have the appropriate information and support from GSSWT to allow the service units to maximize resources and operate more efficiently and effectively. Although each specialist focuses their time to one function, they are also trained to support other positions and are experts in the Girl Scout Leadership Experience and Pathways.
The GO Team structure maximizes the number of staff providing direct service to girls and/or adult volunteers and significantly increases resources dedicated to volunteer development and girl program.
Governance of the council is facilitated through five regional areas that are aligned with the five GO teams. Each regional area is represented by 20 delegates who speak on behalf of their region's members. Adult volunteers or girls age 14 or older may serve as a voting delegate and are responsible for voicing the opinions and concerns of the membership. Governance of the council takes place at monthly GO Team Regional meetings and at the council's Annual Meeting held the first Saturday of March each year.
