Girl Scout Week | March 6-12, 2022

Whether you’re a Girl Scout alum, a current member, a dedicated volunteer, or you simply have an extraordinary Girl Scout in your life, you’re an important part of the Girl Scout family. And you know what families do together? Celebrate!

Girl Scout Week is definitely worth celebrating—seven straight days to show off your Girl Scout pride and lift up all that this worldwide sisterhood has given you, your community, and the world. Join us in treating each day from Sunday, March 6, through Saturday, March 12, as a day of action focused on a powerful yet simple way to get involved.

Plus, this Girl Scout Week ends with a big anniversary: It’s our 110th birthday! Earn the limited-edition patch and learn more about how you can create our future here.

Here’s a rundown of ways to join in the fun:

  • We have Daily Challenges for all Girl Scouts and alums, and we’d love to see your share how you’re participating! Tag us on social media—Facebook, Instagram, Twitter—and use the hashtag #girlscoutweek.
  • You’re also invited to our in-person events this week at our West Side Girl Scout Leadership Center, from Spring Break Camp to an Indoor Ropes Course Adventure (at Andretti Karting and Games – San Antonio) to a session for earning the Religions Around the World patch. Visit our Event Calendar to learn more and register.
  • Girls ages 13-18 are invited to join us from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday for the City of San Antonio's Girls Empowerment Summit! Make plans today to attend one of our watch parties for the virtual event, which includes sessions on social media awareness, healthy dating habits, self-care, and non-traditional career roles for women in STEM. We have two watch party locations: the West Side Girl Scout Leadership Center, 5622 W César E. Chávez Blvd., and Morgan’s Wonderland (Gamma Sigma Girls are encouraged to attend at this location), 5223 David Edwards Dr.

Those unable to attend in person can watch online at www.SanAntonio.Gov/TVSA or on Facebook live at City of San Antonio - Municipal Government.

  • Also Friday, Girl Scouts are invited to the Spurs Faith & Family Night with David Robinson. Come watch the Spurs take on the Utah Jazz, receive a complimentary T-shirt, and stay for the postgame talk with Robinson. Get your tickets today!
  • Saturday is the 110th birthday of Girl Scouts: Join us for a celebration during our 2nd Saturday event at the Sally Cheever Girl Scout Leadership Center, 811 N. Coker Loop, San Antonio, TX 78216, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

We’ll have birthday cupcakes, and the Girl Scout store is offering a 10 percent discount off all Girl Scout merchandise (including uniform items, badges, insignia, books, etc.). Cookie-related merchandise also will be 50 percent off beginning March 12.

Sunday, March 6: Girl Scout Sunday

Girl Scout Sunday

  • Celebrate the global sisterhood of Girl Scouts by learning about the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGS) which connects girls and young women from 152 countries.
  • Plan something meaningful with your time. Go outside, visit with family and friends, sign up for a service project, etc. Giving back is part of who we are as Girl Scouts!
  • Explore the connections between your faith and the Girl Scout Law, a longstanding tradition during Girl Scout Week.
  • Honor the Girl Scout sisterhood at your place of worship by asking your congregational leaders to recognize Girl Scouts in your community and wearing your uniform to services. If your congregation isn’t already hosting a Girl Scout Sunday, start the conversation: ask how you can work with them to host a service or faith event for Girl Scouts. Remember a Girl Scout Sunday can happen throughout the year! Organize it with your faith leader(s) at a time that works best for your community.
    • Area Girl Scout Sunday services (please note different dates):
    • St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 4 p.m. mass, Saturday, March 5, 9883 Marbach Rd., San Antonio, TX 78245
    • Oxford United Methodist Church, 9 a.m. Sunday, March 13, 9739 Huebner Rd., 78240
Monday, March 7: Kindness Day

Kindness Day

Perform an act of kindness. Whether you pay for a stranger’s cup of coffee, or visit an elderly neighbor, every bit of positivity Girl Scouts put out there helps make the world a better place.

Tuesday, March 8: Green Out for Girl Scouts on International Women’s Day

Green Out for Girl Scouts on International Women’s Day

  • Paint Southwest Texas Green! Wear green to work or school and post your photos on Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #GSGreenOut. (Be sure to tag us!)
  • Learn more about International Women’s Day, an opportunity to celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women, and share what you discover on social media. This year’s theme is #BreaktheBias. Imagine a gender equal world, free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that's diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Now reflect upon how Girl Scouts helps you honor differences and promote equity.
Wednesday, March 9: Make New Friends Day

Make New Friends Day

Reach out to someone in your school or work who you don’t know very well (or at all). Invite them to learn more about Girl Scouts, or even just to hang out. No one can have too many friends, and healthy relationships help make for a healthy life.
