Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas will celebrate its 100th anniversary March 11, 2024, and we can’t wait to share the exciting activities we have in store for this council and everyone in Southwest Texas who loves Girl Scouts.
Our rich history inspires us to learn from the girls and women who came before us and built this organization into what it is today. We look back to honor them, and we look forward as we carry their legacies with us and build our own. Today’s Girl Scouts stand on their shoulders, using their voices and actions more than ever to make a difference, at home and abroad.
We can’t wait to see what the next 100 years bring.
We’re celebrating our birthday in style from 1-4 p.m. Monday, March 11, with a big bash at the Sally Cheever Girl Scout Leadership Center.
This celebration will also kick off our 100 Hours of Giving campaign, in which we aim to raise $100,000 in 100 hours toward building The Backyard, a four-acre green space for teaching valuable outdoor skills and building future leaders at our Sally Cheever center. Registration coming soon!
Girls have multiple ways to leave their mark on our Centennial. In addition to attending events, girls have the opportunity to become Centennial Girl Champions by taking the lead on projects and events and help represent GSSWT in our communities. All Centennial Girl Champions will receive a special pin, which cannot be purchased, for their involvement.
Our Centennial subcommittees have already been hard at work creating budgets and making initial plans for our 2024 activities. Now, we invite adult volunteers to help us make these plans a reality! Help us execute memorable events, from engaging with alumni to celebrating our history to staffing our Adventure Day SA event.
