Dr. Sarah Baray
Board Chair

Dr. Sarah Baray has been a board member since January 2017, adult volunteer since 2005, and is a Lifetime Member of Girl Scouts. She brings with her 25 years of experience in education. She serves as chief executive officer of Pre-K 4 SA, a comprehensive early childhood initiative aimed at changing the education and workforce trajectory of San Antonio in one generation. She is passionate about educational equity and culturally responsive schools. 

Before her move to San Antonio, Baray was a professor of education and community leadership at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, where she directed the School Improvement doctoral program and served as a researcher and instructor in the Educational and Community Leadership program. Prior to that, she served in a variety of roles within the Austin Independent School District in Austin, Texas, including as a teacher, principal, and district administrator.

Baray has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and special education, a master’s degree in educational administration and supervision, and a doctorate in public school executive leadership from The University of Texas at Austin.
