Meet our CEO
Angela “Angie” Salinas, Major General U.S. Marine Corps (Ret.), joined Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas as the Chief Executive Officer in July 2015 and is a Lifetime Member of Girl Scouts. A woman of many firsts, Salinas served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 39 years and made history as the first Latina selected and promoted to its general officer ranks. At the time of her retirement in September 2013, she was the senior ranking woman and the senior Hispanic in the Corps.
A Girl Scout alumna and trailblazer, Salinas is a role model to girls and women seeking to break through the glass ceiling. She commanded at every level in Corps, from lieutenant to general, serving as the first woman in multiple assignments that included commanding general, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego/Western Recruiting Region, assistant chief of staff for plans and policy of a major combatant organization, and command of a recruiting district. Her many military decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal and the Navy Distinguished Service Medal, the latter of which she received upon retirement.

Lea Ream
Board Chair
Lea Ream has been a board member since 2019. She has practiced law for more than 30 years in San Antonio at the law firm of Davidson Troilo Ream and Garza. Lea’s practice centers on employment law. She assists clients in complying with the vast, ever-changing array of state and federal laws and regulations governing their relationships with employees. She started her career litigating cases but spends most of her time now helping employers avoid claims and lawsuits, or at least being prepared if her clients have to defend against such matters. She provides guidance to management in matters involving discrimination, harassment and retaliation relating to sex, race, ethnicity, age, religion, and health matters; breach of contract; and covenants not to compete, among other things.
After graduating from the Masters Leadership Program, Lea served on the board of the San Antonio Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired for six years, including serving as secretary and vice chair. At Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas, served as the chair of the Board Development Committee from 2022-23 and was elected to serve as the 1st vice chair of the board in March 2023.
Lea and her husband, Marcas, are now empty nesters—with their daughter working in Mexico as a designer and their son in school in Lubbock, where he and his wife reside.
Lea and Marcas are committed to scouting. Both of their children were dedicated scouts with their daughter earning both the Girl Scout Bronze Award and Girl Scout Silver Award and their son earning his Eagle Scout Award.
Lea was a Brownie as a child and served as the troop leader for their daughter’s Girl Scout troop for seven years.

Board Development Committee 2026-2027
Board development committee members are elected by GSSWT's membership to recommend candidates for the board of directors and the board development committee. The board development committee presents the following for delegate vote at every annual council meeting:
- a single slate of nominees for officers of the council;
- a single slate of nominees for directors; and
- a single slate of nominees for members of the nominating committee.
Every three years, the board development committee also presents a single slate of regional delegates and regional delegate alternates.
GSSWT accepts potential board member and nominating committee member referrals year-round for a single slate presented at our annual council meeting. We place a high priority on recruiting women and men from diverse geographic and racial/ethnic communities.
