Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas is a nonprofit corporation formed under the laws of the State of Texas and chartered by Girl Scouts of the United States of America (GSUSA). The council is governed by bylaws and led by a volunteer Board of Directors that sets the strategic direction for the council and represents the broad diversity of our membership and the communities we serve. Many board meetings are open to the public, and agendas and minutes are available as well.

Each year, we produce an Annual Report that details our finances for the past membership year, lists our Board of Directors and top donors, and highlights our programming and the achievements of our incredible Girl Scouts.
The National Council is the membership body of Girl Scouts of the USA charged with providing input and broad direction to the future of the Girl Scout Movement. As required by the Girl Scouts of the USA Constitution in the Blue Book of Basic Documents, the body convenes every three years and is the major link between Girl Scout councils and the national organization.
