This 30-minute volunteer-only training provides Girl Scout
volunteers with the essential knowledge and safety practices required
to use buddy burners (a simple stove) during troop activities.
Participants will review proper setup, fuel use, fire-safe
handling, supervision requirements, and clean-up procedures, along
with common safety risks and how to prevent them. The training also
covers age-appropriate use, Girl-led involvement, and council
expectations for facilitating buddy burner activities in a safe,
supportive environment.
This session is designed to be
quick, practical, and confidence-building, ensuring volunteers are
prepared to lead hands-on STEM and outdoor experiences while
maintaining Girl Scout safety standards.
