Join the Ultimate DIY team and build your imagination!  On this team, you will learn to use a hammer, level and nails as you design your own creations that you can give or trade with friends and family. You will become a master in carpentry.

Put on your leis, light the tiki torches and let’s do the hula as we travel to our planet’s tropical regions. Tropical islands are known for being warm and humid, so get ready for a cultural, culinary and historic adventure. Do you know tropical islands are home to one half of the world’s animals and plants? Want to make an octopus? Feel like challenging Neptune? Mermaids, shells, fish, whales and sharks abound as we explore life under the sea through nature projects and storytelling. Sharpen your leadership skills by joining the Camp Metro CIT Team. As a role model to campers and a mentor for program aides, you will work side-by-side with the camp counselors planning and facilitating camp activities. Have fun while taking the first step to becoming a Camp Metro counselor.

Discover your hidden talents and share them with younger girls during this two-week session. Learn what it takes to plan activities; teach younger girls new skills; explore behind the scenes of Camp Metro; and visit other day camps during the second week to learn about other CIT opportunities.

Required:

  • PA 101 training and at least one summer as a PA at Camp Metro.

NOTE: This CIT training is specific to Camp Metro. It does NOT cover the requirements to be a CIT at Camp La Jita.

Weeks 5 & 6: Counselor-in-Training (CIT) II

July 6-17 | Registration Deadline: June 26 | $ 300 (2-weeks)

Continue to expand your skills as you build on your previous Camp Metro experiences. In this two-week session you will improve your leadership techniques and plan activities. During week two, specialize in an age group or another behind the scenes leader position of your choosing and visit area day camps.

Required:

  • Completion of CIT I training and at least one summer as a CIT I at Camp Metro.

NOTE: This CIT training is specific to Camp Metro. It does NOT cover the requirements to be a CIT at Camp La Jita.

About Camp Metro

Camp Metro day camps are held at the West Side Girl Scout Leadership Center, a nearly 40,000 sq. ft. building, which offers a gymnasium, outside play equipment, STEM lab and art studio as well as a stage for girls to perform.

Sessions include a t-shirt, patch, breakfast, lunch & snack, supplies, before & after care and a field trip at no additional cost.  NOTE: 20% discount for Edgewood ISD students

  • Camp activities Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. with before care beginning at 7 a.m. and after care until 6 p.m. available at no additional cost.
  • Drop off and pick up available from the Sally Cheever Girl Scout Leadership Center
  • Each week concludes with a camper showcase for parents on Thursday from 3-3:30 p.m.

Save Time and Complete Pre-Check-In!

Complete all information on CampDoc.com for your camper(s) (every form must have a green checkmark) and receive a quick check-in tag from Customer Care. This quick check-in tag will allow you to skip many of the first day check-in requirements.

Once you receive a 100% completion, stop by the GSSWT Customer Care center. They will check to ensure all information is complete and issue you 2 check-in tags that will be utilized when checking in/out your Girl Scout from camp (both Camp La Jita and Camp Metro).

  • If you have a current photo of your camper, please upload it to CampDoc.com or bring it to your pre-check-in visit and we can help get it uploaded.

NOTE: You will be asked to upload your camper’s immunization record in CampDoc.com for both GSSWT camps. Also, Camp La Jita campers (only) will need to upload a licensed physician's health examination form. Each camper who attends resident camp must have a record of a health examination given by a licensed physician. You will find other important downloads in CampDoc.com specific to your camp.
